Psychological Evaluations

Clinical Immigration Evaluations

Clinical immigration evaluations or more commonly referred to as, psychological reports can provide invaluable evidence for individuals applying for immigrant and non-immigrant visa status from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).  The most common types of cases for which evaluation reports are used include:

  • Political Asylum: Clients have typically been exposed to psychological distress, deprivation and/or torture in their home country. Psychological evaluation reports consist of a detailed history and a through and professional diagnostic impression addressing the impact of mistreatment suffered as a result of persecution.

  • Extreme/Exceptional Hardship: In these cases, the psychological evaluation report must examine the potential impact of a foreign national’s deportation on a United States Citizen or Green card Holder’s parents, spouse, or immediate relative.

  • Domestic Abuse: Clients filing for US immigration benefits for a marriage to a United States Citizen can continue on their path to gain full immigration benefits (i.e., Green card) without the support of their US Citizen spouse. Psychological evaluation reports addressing the impact of domestic abuse can be vital to securing long tern immigration benefits. It is important to note that the abuse is not limited to physical evidence—verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse also qualify for the granting of this waiver.

  • Non immigrant Visa Discretionary Waiver: Foreign nationals who wish to come to the United States on a temporary basis will generally not be granted a visa/ permission to enter the US if they have a history of addiction and/or criminal background, no matter how minor. Such clients often benefit from submitting a psycholoogical evaluation report addressing the details of their addiction struggles, criminal mishaps, and rehabilitation. A well prepared evaluation report will provide strong evidence that the client had reformed and been rehabilitated.
