This course will explore depression from a neurobiological perspective, utilizing mindfulness-based techniques as an ancillary to treatment. Consideration will be given to understanding clinical depression from a fundamental neurobiological perspective, which will set the stage for delivering enhanced treatment for clients suffering from depression, anxiety, and emotional deregulation. Incorporating Mindfulness into Couples Work
2.25 CE credit hours. Course code: 002
Learn how to apply mindful-based techniques to assist couples in therapy. Mindfulness is a practice, a systematic method at cultivating clarity, insight, and compassion. Basic mindfulness and meditation techniques are explored. A basic understanding about the neurobiology and research on mindfulness will also be examined.

She is an educator and author of two books: “The Mindfulness Response: Inner Happiness Every Day,” and “Who Helps the Helper: Proven Stress Management Techniques for Law Enforcement Officers.” Deborah has been featured on various radio media outlets addressing depression, stress management, and well-being. She is also an adjunct professor of psychology and marriage and family therapy. A retired lieutenant from the New York City Police Department, her areas of research include: neurobiology of depression and anxiety; motivation and learning, and memory enhancement.
