Cognitive and Memory Training
NYCMFT uses neuropsychological-based psychotherapy for the following services: Cognitive Strengthening and Memory Enhancement (CSME)
Through our CSME trainings, we specialize in focusing on client strengthens as opposed to client deficits. We believe in the Hebbian Theory: "Cells that fire together wire together." We use cortical remapping techniques to improve client functioning. While we can provide assessments for such disorders as ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and certain cognitive and memory dysfunctions, our focus is on strength building. Our research in how people perceive, learn, remember, and process information provides cutting edge services for helping our clients improve cognition and memory functions.
We are continuously processing information in our minds. Whether you pay attention to a conversation, estimate the speed of an approaching car when crossing a street, or memorizing information for an upcoming presentation, you are perceiving information, processing it, and remembering or thinking about it. Our focus is on those cognitive processes that are often hidden and automatic to us.
